Another would-be outdoor wedding that was moved inside for rain. It’s becoming a too-frequent occurrence this spring! Coming to Wisconsin from the Chicago area, the American Club in Kohler was a perfect close-to-home retreat for the couple to host their wedding.
Even though Cathie & Zach couldn’t have their ceremony as planned in the resort’s courtyard, they had the luxurious Founder’s Room for their indoor back-up location. With the pink chandelier and inviting fireplace (very welcome on a cool & drizzly day!), the intimate ceremony was still beautiful!
The bride entered to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” With no bridal party, the processional was all about her! The ceremony included readings from The Velveteen Rabbit and The Little Prince, and concluded with “Down by the Salley Gardens.” This traditional Irish song was the recessional, and led to the cocktail hour, which was held in the same room.
Cathie is originally from Scotland, so she requested that I include a few traditional Scottish folksongs during the cocktail hour. In addition to these, I also played a few classical pieces, and popular songs from the 1940’s, 1950’s, and the 1990’s through the present, including:
- In the Mood by Glen Miller
- Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley
- Marry Me by Train
- Earth Angel by Curtis Williams
- When I Fall in Love by Victor Young
For weddings at the American Club or anywhere in Sheboygan, WI, and the greater Milwaukee area, I would love to work with you! You can find more information about having a harpist for your wedding at: Wisconsin Wedding Harpist.
