Beloit Harpist ~ Wedding Music in Southern Wisconsin

I’m sure that when Mary & Mel were planning their wedding for July, they never expected temperatures in the 60’s!  Although the sky was overcast and it was a little chilly, they were able to have their ceremony outdoors on the grounds of the Country Club of Beloit.  A tent kept the worries about rain away, and actually provided some warmth for the guests!

The background of the ceremony was an arch decorated with flowers in the wedding colors of royal blue and lime green.  As guests found their seats, I played a variety of classical pieces and popular love songs.

When the bridal party was ready for their entrance, I changed to “All I Ask of You” from Phantom of the Opera for their processional.  Mary came down the aisle to the Irish folk song, “Down by the Salley Gardens.”

The couple performed a sand ceremony, and requested the Third Movement of Vivaldi’s “Spring” from The Four Seasons to be played as they poured their individual containers of sand into one larger one.

The recessional was another Irish tune – “Fanny Power” by the harper Turlough O’Carolan.  This piece was written by him for the wedding of his patron’s daughter, and it is a wonderfully lively piece to end the ceremony!
