Detroit Wedding Music ~ Harpist in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

My first wedding back after a two-week holiday with my family in Scotland was for Sarah & Chad at the Academy of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Bloomfield Hills.  I enjoyed my time off, but was ready to get back for the rest of my summer and fall weddings!

I played a variety of music as guests arrived and took their seats, including “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie alongside more traditional classical pieces.  The bridal party entered to Bach’s “Prelude in C.”

If you are planning a Catholic wedding, be sure to consult with your priest about the music that will be permitted during the service.  Some parishes have very strict rules!  Sarah was hoping to come down the aisle to “Storybook Love” from The Princess Bride, but since that wasn’t allowed, she went with Handel’s “Aria” from Rinaldo.  I did manage to get “Storybook Love” into the prelude, and her second-choice piece still made for a beautiful entrance!

The recessional was “The Nightingale” by Deborah Henson-Conant.  This is a wonderful choice that isn’t traditional, and as it was composed by a rock harpist, has a bit of flair while still being appropriate for the sacred service.  I continued with postlude music as guests exited and the wedding party began their photo session.
