Great Gatsby Themed Wedding ~ Harpist in Wabash, Indiana

When Samantha contacted me and let me in on her wedding plans, I was SO excited to be a part of her ceremony!  She knew how important the music was to set the scene for her Great Gatsby/Old Hollywood themed wedding, and went with a harp & violin duet for her ceremony music.  In the planning process, she also added two vocalists, so it was quite the musical extravaganza!

The ceremony took place in the Eagles Theatre in downtown Wabash, Indiana.  They decorated the lobby with movie posters showing the bride, groom, and wedding party all dressed up in their 1920’s apparel, and had their names on the theatre’s marquee.  I loved seeing so many of the guests dress to match the theme as well!

During the prelude, we did harp & violin duets of some favorite love songs from the movies ~ “Falling Slowly” from Once, “Bella Notte” from Lady and the Tramp, “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, “I Finally Found Someone” from The Mirror Has Two Faces, and “Secret Love” from Calamity Jane.

The families were seated to the main theme from the movie Love Story, and this was followed by a movie – shown on the theatre’s big screen – of the bride, groom, and their wedding party talking about their relationship and the excitement of the wedding day.  When the lights came back up, the bridesmaids and flower girl entered to “Turning Page” from the Twilight movie Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

Samantha’s processional was “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri from the same movie.  Following the vows, they had “Storybook Love” from The Princess Bride with one of the singers, then another version of “A Thousand Years” with the female singer as they mixed different colors of glass for their unity ceremony.

The recessional was “My Own True Love” from Gone with the Wind.  As guests exited the theatre, we continued to play postlude music with other love themes from the movies.  The bride and groom made their exit in a 1927 Buick, and everyone headed off to the reception.
