On Sunday, November 6th, Cedarhurst of Jacksonville welcomed the community to tour their new facility. I played harp in the memory care wing of the assisted living center.
When I play for public events such as this, I like to make sure that people of all ages hear something that they recognize. So one minute I’m playing jazz standards, and the next I’m playing Styx!
Residents, families, and guests were able to sit and relax listening to harp music, or simply hear it in the background as they learned about Cedarhurst’s offerings. I especially enjoyed when a couple of the residents began impromptu sing-alongs to “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music and Sinatra’s “My Way”!
In addition to community events, I also play the harp for weddings and private parties and teach harp and piano lessons in Jacksonville, Illinois. Please contact me via my website – Central Illinois Harpist – for details on booking live harp music or taking lessons!
