Northern Michigan Harpist | Traverse City Wedding Music

Sierra and Blake could not have asked for a more perfect day for their beach wedding.  The ceremony took place on the Beach Club deck of the Grand Traverse Resort.  As the parents were seated, I played the 1960s hit “A Summer Place.”

The wedding party entered to “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, the flower girl to “Something There” from Beauty and the Beast, and Sierra’s processional was “Here Comes the Bride.”

The traditional recessional “Wedding March” concluded the ceremony, and then I was off to downtown Traverse City to play for the reception at the City Opera House.

Harp for a Wedding on the Beach

First, it was for the cocktail hour in the lobby.  I played a variety of popular and classical pieces, so there was something that would be familiar to guests of all ages.

For dinner, I moved the harp to the balcony of the auditorium.  What a stunning venue!   The wedding party was seated on the stage, and the guest tables were on the main floor.

I continued to play through dinner service, including the mother of the bride’s special request “Somewhere in Time.”  They live on Mackinac Island, and the couple had their engagement pictures taken at the Grand Hotel.  It’s a beautiful piece, and evocative of a place that is special to the family (I love playing for weddings on Mackinac Island, too!).
