I loved working with Cece and Alex on their wedding music! Both bride and groom were involved in the planning from the start. They had a lovely, heartfelt ceremony at the Lemp Loft in St. Louis, conducted by the groom’s uncle. The bride’s great-aunt, who had just celebrated her 99th birthday, was even in attendance!
They knew the traditional wedding music was not their style. Instead, they chose music that they like, even if it isn’t necessarily considered wedding-y! Their families were seated to “Come Sail Away” by Styx.
For the wedding party processional and her own entrance, Cece chose two pieces by the folk harpist Joanna Newsom – “Bridges and Balloons” and “Sadie.”
At the end of the ceremony, the newly-married couple walked back down the aisle to “Somebody to Love” by Queen. Not traditional, not what you’d expect to hear on the harp, but so, so fun! The reception followed upstairs in the Lemp Grand Hall.
I play for weddings in the St. Louis area and throughout Missouri and Illinois. Whether you prefer the wedding classics or want something completely different – or even a mix of both! – a versatile harpist can cover all of your wedding music needs. You can find song lists, more audio samples, pictures, and reviews on my website: St. Louis Wedding Harpist.
