Kalamazoo Harpist – Ceremony at Sherman Lakes YMCA

The last time I played for a wedding at Sherman Lakes was eleven years ago!  I was glad to be back, playing for this lovely outdoor wedding ceremony.  The bride’s mother managed to keep the fact that there would be a harpist for the wedding a secret from everyone except the bride and groom!

The guests could hear the music as they walked up the path to the waterside outdoor chapel.  Prelude music included “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, “Memory” from Cats – a favorite of the bride’s maternal grandmother, and “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.

Wedding Music Battle Creek

The wedding party was one attendant on each side, plus the bride’s dog as ring bearer.  It’s the first time I’ve seen a dog make the walk down the aisle without someone having to lead it!  They all entered to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” The bride’s processional was “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

As the couple lit the unity candle and presented roses to their mothers, I played “From This Moment” by Shania Twain lightly in the background.  Their recessional was the popular Ed Sheeran song “Perfect.”

Battle Creek Harpist

Postlude music played as guests exited and headed off to the reception at the hall, and included “You Raise Me Up” and “Tammy” – a favorite of the bride’s paternal grandmother!  Selecting music that is special to important people in your family is an excellent way to honor them and include them in your ceremony.
