Wedding in Hermann ~ Missouri Harpist

Weddings in the time of COVID-19!  This was my first event since everything started to be rescheduled in mid-March.  It was good to be back behind the harp and sharing music!

Glenn and Kaeryn had been planning to get married in Scotland, but travel restrictions prevented that.  Instead, they had a closer-to-home destination wedding, with a handful of guests in Hermann, Missouri.  Their ceremony was held at Hermann Hill Wedding Chapel, with views out the large windows over the river.  It was beautiful, even when it began to rain!

When I met the groom before the ceremony, he asked if I knew the Scottish folk song “Skye Boat Song.”  Of course, I do!  He asked that I play it as a special surprise for the bride, as a nod to their original wedding plans.

They had a variety of pieces they requested for the pre-service time.  This included songs from Broadway musicals and classical pieces.  “Canon in D” accompanied the bride’s walk down the aisle.

At Hermann Hill, they conclude their ceremonies by opening up the windows and popping a champagne cork.  The perfect way to begin the celebration!  I played Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” followed by “Skye Boat Song” and other uptempo selections.

As the world is changing on a daily basis in response to the pandemic, love carries on!  I am available to play for in-person weddings (following state/local guidance for guest limits and distancing) and online for virtual weddings and events on Zoom or other platforms.  Visit my website ~ Central Missouri Harpist ~ and contact me for details!
