Brittney and Manu had a wedding that celebrated their cultural traditions. On Thanksgiving weekend, their immediate families joined together for their ceremony, and they welcomed a larger group in the evening for their reception. It was a fairytale event, from the moment guests walked in the door!

Both ceremony and reception were held at the Durant Community Center in Durant, Iowa. It’s a small town a short drive away from both the Quad Cities and Iowa City. They decorated in silver and dark blue, with an arch constructed by the family.

I played prelude music as everyone was getting prepared, then transitioned to “Trumpet Tune” for the family seating, then “Trumpet Voluntary” for the wedding party processional. The groom had his own entrance song – the theme from James Bond! Brittney chose Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus” for her walk down the aisle.

During the ceremony, the couple participated in several Sri Lankan wedding traditions. As they did so, I played “Pehla Nasha” from the Bollywood movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Their recessional was the traditional Mendelssohn “Wedding March.” After the ceremony, everyone went outside to see the couple off in a vintage automobile before coming back to the hall for dinner.
