Youngstown Harpist {Maronite Wedding Music}

I have been lucky this July – with all of the extremely high temperatures, I’ve been playing for indoor events most of the month!  This beautiful wedding ceremony was held at St. Maron Church in Youngstown, Ohio.

This was the first Maronite Crowning Ceremony I had played for in about a decade, and was glad to have the guidance of the church’s music director.  It’s also good that I’m an excellent sight reader!  We played harp and piano duets for the sung parts of the service, accompanying the church’s cantor.

As the families were seated, I played “How Beautiful,” followed by “Canon in D” for the wedding party processional.  Allison came down the aisle to “Grow Old Along with Me.”  Although she preferred more contemporary music, we have to abide by church guidelines and select music that is appropriate for a religious service.  You can always save the popular songs for the reception!

During the service, I played Schubert’s “Ave Maria” as they went to the Blessed Mother, and then Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” for the recessional.
