Another COVID-rescheduled wedding that was finally able to happen in August! Originally set to take place in Mankato in June, it was moved to the couple’s home in rural Albert Lea.
Almost as soon as I began playing the prelude music, rain started to fall! Fortunately, the reception tent was close to the ceremony site, so I headed there for cover. Of course, a wooden harp can’t get wet! I was able to have the harp stay dry under the tent, and continue to play through the ceremony, without the worry of having to start and stop with the rain. Fortunately the shower was brief, and only delayed the ceremony by a few minutes.
The family was seated to the theme from Beauty and the Beast, with the wedding party following to the French jazz standard “La Vie en Rose.” The couple’s children came down the aisle in a Power Wheel while I played “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid. Stacy chose “What a Wonderful World” for her processional.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the recessional was “Better Together” by Jack Johnson, followed by the mother of the bride’s special request, “I Turn to You” by Christina Aguilera. I continued with other popular love songs as guests made their way to the reception tent.
I play for weddings and other events throughout southern Minnesota, and would love to collaborate on the music for your day! You can find more information on my website: Albert Lea Wedding Harpist.
