Northwest Indiana Wedding Harpist ~ Marquette Park Pavilion

Nothing was going to stop this wedding – not a pandemic, and not the rain!  Both caused some changes to their original plans, but Bethany and Brandon still had a beautiful wedding at the Marquette Park Pavilion in Gary, Indiana.

The historic building was the site of their ceremony and reception.  A small group of friends and family gathered under the porch cover for the ceremony, and the cocktail hour was held in the same space.  Harp music accompanied both!

Bethany chose “Canon in D” by Pachelbel for the entire processional, but reserving the more majestic part for her entrance.  It’s a wonderful way to have a musical consistency throughout the entrances, but still have a big special moment for the bride!

During the service, I played quietly as the couple spoke their vows to one another (“Storybook Love” from The Princess Bride for Bethany and “My Girl” by Smokey Robinson for Brandon).  Their handfasting ceremony included “In Dreams” from Lord of the Rings: Breaking of the Fellowship, and the recessional to conclude the ceremony was Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend.”

With the ceremony and cocktail hour in the same location, I just turned the harp around to face the tables, and continued with the music!  The background music was mostly popular songs, each with special meaning to one of the guests in attendance.  The bride chose songs that her friends and family used during their own wedding celebrations – everything from “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran to “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
