Wichita Harpist ~ Wedding at The Wichita Boathouse

Jennifer and Jason celebrated with family and friends, getting married at the Wichita Boathouse.  The Boathouse was built in the 1920s, and from their ceremony site on the wrap-around veranda, they could see the Arkansas river, downtown Wichita, and – most importantly – Riverfront Stadium!

They incorporated touches of a Harry Potter theme into their October wedding, from the Sorting Hat on the escort card table to Butterbeer cocktails!  Their music selections, while not from the movie soundtracks, fit the overall vibe perfectly.

As guests took their seats, I played several pieces from the Final Fantasy series (“Aerith’s Theme,” “Eyes on Me,” and “Song of Memory”), along with Debussy’s “Clair de Lune,” “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie, and “All I Ask of You” from the musical Phantom of the Opera.

The seating of family members was to “I Giorni” by the Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi.  There was no wedding party, and Jennifer also came down the aisle to this piece.

They looked to the Netflix series The Witcher for musical inspiration for the recessional, choosing “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” as the music to conclude the ceremony.  The song choices for this wedding were anything but traditional, but beautiful and perfect for this couple!  I continued to play similar selections as guests went inside for the reception.
