We watched the sky and the weather radar closely on this one! Fortunately, the outdoor ceremony was able to go ahead as planned at the Old Monastery in Portsmouth, Ohio. It poured during the reception, but everyone was inside by then and stayed dry!
High on the hill overlooking the city and the Ohio River, this historic home was once a monastery and is now back under private ownership. The ceremony took place at the front entrance.
For the family seating and the wedding party processional, I played “Canon in D” by Pachelbel. The bride’s entrance music was “Bridal March from Skjevik.” The ceremony included a time when the couple’s parents came forward to bless the wedding rings, during which I played “The Prayer” from Quest for Camelot. The recessional was “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.
I followed the guests into the hall, which was set up for dinner. For the reception, I played a variety of popular songs requested by the bride and groom, including “A Thousand Years,” “Drops of Jupiter, “Marry Me,” and “Chasing Cars.”
