What do you get someone who has everything? Harp music! Experiences are always a wonderful gift, and the guest of honor was surprised by her husband and daughters with a private harp concert in her living room. We even managed to sneak the harp inside while she and her friends were in the back of the house – not an easy feat with a 6-foot-tall instrument in tow!
Along with the family’s special request of the Edith Piaf song “Non, je ne regrette rien,” I played a variety of classical pieces by Bach, Chopin, Handel, and Puccini, as well as popular songs such as “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago, and the jazz standard “Autumn Leaves.” Of course, a round of “Happy Birthday” to conclude!
