Music theory lessons are offered to students from ages 8 through adults, from beginners to advanced musicians. Private instruction is available at my Springfield and Jacksonville locations, and group classes are offered at the Springfield studio.
My music theory students include those who are studying a band or orchestral instrument who would like a fuller view of the workings of music, high school students preparing for college auditions and the AP exam in Music Theory, parents of young piano students who want to be able to assist their children in their practice at home, and college students needing extra help with theory, ear training, and musicianship coursework.
Topics focus on the student's needs and interests, and can cover anything from basic note and rhythm reading to harmonic analysis, figured bass, voice leading, counterpoint, and melodic dictation.
Lessons are held weekly in my home studio in Jacksonville, Illinois, or in Springfield at The Music Factory. Check the schedule at The Music Factory's website or contact me directly to find out about group theory, composition, and musicianship classes.
To begin private lessons, I require a free, no-obligation interview. This allows you to see if lessons in my studio will be a good fit for you and your goals.
Please contact me by phone or email to set up this initial meeting or ask any questions you may have!
