The best news of my holiday season is that – so far – I haven’t had to move my harp in the snow! I know it’s coming, but I’m thankful for every Christmas gig that doesn’t involve shoveling.
I was invited to present a program of holiday harp music for the Romeo District Library in Washington Township, on the north side of Detroit, Michigan. The room was full of people that were able to enjoy an evening to just relax and listen to harp music and avoid the hustle of the upcoming holiday, even if just for an hour!
The concert included many traditional Christmas carols, along with a few classical pieces. When I get to choose the program, I also have the opportunity to include a few of my personal favorites! My most-loved carols tend to the obscure (“I Wonder as I Wander,” “Ding Dong Merrily on High,” and “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” were among those I played), so this was a chance to introduce them to the audience.
During December, I play for events of all types ~ weddings, concerts, corporate parties, and religious services. If you are interested in having harp music for your special event, contact me soon at {Detroit Harpist}, as holiday dates fill up quickly!
