Salisbury House is an amazing venue! Constructed in Des Moines from parts of buildings brought over from Europe, it has a definite Old World feel, right in the Midwest.
I played for the Christmas party for a company’s board of directors, starting with cocktails in the entryway. The harp was set up in the balcony (a former choir stall from a church in England).
As the guests took a guided tour of part of the mansion, I moved the harp into the “common room” for dinner. Set up right next to the Christmas tree, and a one-of-a-kind Steinway piano, the room was dazzling!
Throughout the evening, I played favorite songs of the season, from traditional carols to contemporary songs. Given the surroundings, I also made sure to include some Medieval and Renaissance Christmas music!
For any type of event taking place in central Iowa, the harp is the perfect addition to the celebration. Please visit my website – Des Moines Harpist – and contact me about playing the harp for your wedding, party, holiday gathering, or other event!
