It has been a rainy start to the outdoor wedding season this year! Last weekend we had thunderstorms and had to have the wedding under the venue’s portico covering the driveway. We fared a little better this weekend, with the ceremony being able to go ahead outdoors – I just had to make a quick move with the harp to the porch when it started to rain during the prelude!
I always have a back-up plan in place for any outdoor ceremony. If there isn’t overhead cover nearby, I have my all-weather carbon fiber harp close and ready to go. That way, if I need to cover the wood harp to protect it from the elements, I can get the music going again right away! Outdoor weddings aren’t predictable, so I want to remove that worry from my couples. No matter the weather, your music is a go!
Laura and Alex held their wedding at The Venue at Shadow Rock in Forsyth, close to Branson, Missouri. It has all the natural beauty of the Ozarks, without the crowds of the nearby city. The bride’s brother officiated the ceremony.
I played as guests were seated, and then transitioned to “Eyes on Me” from Final Fantasy VIII for the seating of family members. The wedding party processional (which included the couple’s corgi, Winston!) was to “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, and the bride followed to “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
During the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, I played “Fields of Gold” by Sting. The wedding concluded with the recessional to “All My Loving” by The Beatles. I continued to play upbeat pop songs as guests made their way to the cocktail hour inside the venue and on the patio.
