Mackinac Island is a dreamy location for a wedding of any size, but especially for microweddings and elopements! It’s the perfect place to step back in time with your closest family and friends to celebrate your marriage.
Corrie and Chris eloped to Mackinac Island from Pittsburgh after falling in love with the place and seeing a harpist at the Grand Hotel. They chose the gazebo at Mission Point Resort for their ceremony.
Their guest list was basically the wedding party, too! For the processional of the groom and everyone except the bride, I played “Night Moves” by Bob Seger. Corrie’s walk down the aisle was to James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend.”
As background music throughout the ceremony, they requested a variety of non-traditional music, including “Don’t Change” by INXS, “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin, “All of My Days” by Alexi Murdoch, “I’ll Have to Say I Love You In a Song” by Jim Croce, and “Creep” by Radiohead. You might not think of these as “wedding songs,” but on the harp, anything can be! What matters is that the music is meaningful to the couple.
For the recessional, they went with another unexpected choice – Nat King Cole’s Christmas song “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.” That is their song, and it was the perfect end to their ceremony, even for a summer wedding!
I continued playing as the whole group exited and took pictures with the classic Mackinac Island horse and carriage. With a small guest list, they were able to easily get everyone to multiple locations together for photos!
The harp is the perfect addition to a romantic Mackinac Island wedding. To find out more about having a harpist for your ceremony and reception, visit my website: Mackinac Island Wedding Harpist. You can listen to audio and video samples, see more pictures, and request a quote. I’d love to be a part of your “married on Mackinac” day (and I’m a pro at transporting the harp on the ferry)!
