Mackinac Island is a magical setting for all types of events! I’ve played for wedding ceremonies and receptions all over the island, but this was my first bridal brunch.
Hosted by the aunt of the bride on the Thursday morning before the Saturday wedding, guests took the ferry over from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace and gathered at the Iroquois Hotel for brunch.
The pre-wedding festivities allowed guests from different parts of the country to not only meet other friends and family members of the couple, but to have more time to experience the beauty of Northern Michigan and the tranquility of the car-free island.
The meal was served on the lawn of the Iroquois Hotel and overlooked Lake Huron with a good view of arriving and departing ferries. The flowers lined the center of the table with bright summer colors.
I played some familiar light classics but focused mostly on more contemporary songs, such as “Ordinary” by Alex Warren and “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone. Songs with beautiful melodies like these sound lovely on the harp!
Following the brunch, the host had horse-drawn carriages ready outside the hotel to take guests on a tour of Mackinac Island. What a perfect start to the wedding weekend!
Although most of my performances are for weddings, the harp makes an elegant addition to all types of events, including parties, corporate events, and family gatherings. I am available on Mackinac Island as well as throughout the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan. To inquire about your date, please visit my website: Mackinac Island Harpist.
