Live harp performance brings a distinctive artistic voice to concerts, festivals, cultural celebrations, and special events throughout Nigeria and West Africa. As a harpist performing across the region, I present solo recitals, collaborative performances, educational programs, and cross-cultural projects that combine the harp’s rich tradition with the extraordinary musical heritage of Africa.
These photographs are from a harp workshop I presented for first-year students at the MUSON (Musical Society of Nigeria) Centre in Lagos, as well as a performance in the New Horizons concert series.
Concert Performances at the MUSON Centre
The concert featured the world premiere of the New Horizons African Ballet in the Agip Recital Hall at the MUSON Centre, bringing together an exceptional group of artists including Tunde Jegede, Qudus Onikeku, and Renu Hossain. The performance explored the intersection of classical, African, and contemporary traditions, creating a memorable artistic collaboration that celebrated innovation while honoring cultural heritage.
Educational outreach is also an important part of my work, and I enjoyed introducing first-year MUSON students to the harp through workshops that explored the instrument’s history, technique, repertoire, and possibilities within both Western and African musical traditions.
Cross-Cultural Collaborations Throughout West Africa
One of the most exciting aspects of performing in West Africa is the opportunity to collaborate with outstanding musicians from diverse musical backgrounds. The harp blends beautifully with both traditional and contemporary instruments, creating fresh and expressive musical experiences for audiences.
Collaborative performances are available with harp and kora, harp and tabla, harp and African percussion, harp and flute, harp and violin, as well as many other instrumental combinations. These collaborations are equally at home in concert halls, festivals, diplomatic events, cultural celebrations, weddings, and educational programs.
Concerts, Festivals & Cultural Events
I regularly perform throughout Lagos, Nigeria, and across West Africa for classical concert series, arts and cultural festivals, ballet and dance productions, university residencies, educational workshops, museum and gallery programs, embassy and diplomatic receptions, luxury hotel galas, corporate cultural events, international conferences, and collaborative performances that bring together artists from diverse musical traditions.
Every program is thoughtfully designed for its audience and may feature classical repertoire, contemporary works, African-inspired compositions, improvisation, and innovative collaborations that celebrate the rich musical traditions of both Africa and the wider world.
A Repertoire Without Boundaries
Drawing from thousands of musical selections, every concert is curated to suit the venue, audience, and artistic vision of the event.
Repertoire may include:
• Classical masterworks
• Top 40 and contemporary arrangements
• Jazz standards
• Film, television, and Broadway music
• Celtic and traditional folk music
• Sacred selections and hymns
• Video game themes
• African music and cross-cultural collaborations
• Multicultural and world music
Programs can be developed around specific themes, educational objectives, cultural traditions, or commissioned works, creating performances that are both engaging and distinctive.
Performing Throughout Nigeria & West Africa
From prestigious concert halls in Lagos to festivals, universities, luxury venues, and cultural institutions throughout Nigeria and neighboring West African countries, I enjoy collaborating with presenters and organizations to create memorable musical experiences.
Whether performing a solo recital, appearing with a chamber ensemble, collaborating with traditional African musicians, or presenting educational workshops, every performance is tailored to the goals of the event and the audience.
