Another beautiful Northern Michigan wedding! Sarah and Mark held their ceremony and reception at LochenHeath Golf Club overlooking the East Grand Traverse Bay.
Their cocktail hour took place on the lawn and under the reception tent prior to the ceremony, during which I played a variety of popular love songs and light classics. The florist did amazing work, even turning the poles supporting the tent into “trees” draped with mirror garlands!
Once guests found their seats and the ceremony began, I played “Romanza” for the seating of families and the entrance of the wedding party, followed by the 3rd Movement of “Spring” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons as the flower girls and ring bearers came down the aisle.
Sarah’s processional was “Clair de Lune” by Debussy. During the ceremony, the unity candle ritual was expanded to include all of the guests. As the couple lit their center candle and passed the flame among their family and friends, Lindsey, the sister of the groom, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” with harp accompaniment.
Lindsey and I also had a bit of a surprise in store for the couple. She knew that the John Denver song “Perhaps Love” was a favorite of Sarah’s, and had been a part of her parents’ wedding. It wasn’t listed in the program, but we snuck it in right after the reading!
The recessional was the Beatles’ hit “All My Loving.” As guests made their way to the reception, I continued to play upbeat songs, including “Moondance” and “Great Day.”
I play the harp for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and rehearsal dinners in the Traverse City area and throughout Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
