Gatlinburg Harpist ~ Wedding in the Smoky Mountains

The bride’s grandmother, who owns the Buckhorn Inn where the wedding took place, contacted me about playing the harp for her granddaughter’s ceremony. Although the bride and groom live in Alaska, they returned to the family property outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for their wedding.  The ceremony took place in the labyrinth, with the Smoky Mountains in the background.

Guests walked through the gardens from the historic Inn to the ceremony site, and heard harp music filling the space.  The wedding party came down the aisle to “Storybook Love” from The Princess Bride.  Cate’s entrance music was the French jazz standard “La Vie en Rose.”

The bride’s grandfather performed the ceremony for Cate and Lance.  Guests were seated in a semicircle around the labyrinth, with the couple standing in the center.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, the recessional was “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen.  The wedding party and guests headed back up to the Inn for the reception, and I continued the postlude music until they were inside.
