Harp & Flute Wedding Music in Northwest Arkansas

A Sunday afternoon wedding at Sassafras Springs Vineyard combined elegant live music, meaningful multicultural repertoire, and one of the most visually distinctive ceremony spaces in Northwest Arkansas: the venue’s iconic roofless stone chapel. Surrounded by natural stone walls and open sky overhead, the setting created an atmosphere that felt intimate, romantic, and timeless. It was the perfect environment for live harp and flute music!

For this wedding ceremony, the couple selected a blend of popular music, Arabic repertoire, cinematic love songs, and contemporary classics. The harp and flute duet blended naturally with the acoustics of the stone chapel, filling the open-air space with rich, resonant sound while preserving the graceful and elegant atmosphere that makes live acoustic music so effective for wedding ceremonies.

Prelude Music Featuring Pop & Arabic Selections

Guests were welcomed with a prelude that reflected both personal taste and cultural influence, moving seamlessly between contemporary love songs and Arabic music arranged for harp and flute. Prelude selections included:

• “Akhir Ayyam El Seifiyi” by the Rahbani Brothers
• “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross
• “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman
• “Baadak Ala Bali” by Fairuz

One of the most rewarding aspects of performing for weddings is helping couples incorporate music that genuinely reflects who they are, whether that means classical repertoire, film music, Arabic songs, Bollywood selections, or contemporary pop arrangements. Wedding music does not need to fit into a single tradition to feel cohesive and elegant!

The flute is especially well-suited for Arabic repertoire because flute-like instruments such as the ney have deep historical roots throughout Middle Eastern musical traditions. The expressive phrasing and ornamentation characteristic of Arabic music translate naturally to the flute, while the harp adds warmth, resonance, and texture underneath the melodic lines.

Harp and flute also lend themselves beautifully to call-and-response playing, passing the melody back and forth in a way that creates movement, conversation, and emotional depth within the music. Together, the instruments create a sound that feels sophisticated, expressive, and highly distinctive for wedding ceremonies.

Couples do not need to share a specific cultural background to include music they love in their wedding celebration! Many simply connect emotionally with the sound, the artistry, or the memories associated with certain songs, and incorporating those influences can make the ceremony feel far more personal and memorable.

Ceremony Music in the Roofless Stone Chapel

As family members were seated and the wedding party processed down the aisle, we played “Someone to Watch Over Me” by George and Ira Gershwin, creating a calm and elegant transition into the ceremony.

The bridal processional featured “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds, arranged for harp and flute duet. The warmth of the harp paired with the lyrical flute melody created a deeply emotional entrance for the bride beneath the stone archways of the chapel.

During the unity braiding ceremony, the couple chose “The Story” by Brandi Carlile, a meaningful contemporary selection that translated beautifully into an instrumental arrangement.  Following the ceremony, the newly-married couple exited to “All My Loving” by The Beatles, giving the recessional an upbeat and joyful energy as everyone transitioned into the celebration afterward.

Postlude Music Blending Arabic & Contemporary Styles

The postlude continued the multicultural and stylistically varied atmosphere established throughout the ceremony. Music included:

• “Better Together” by Jack Johnson
• “Aatini El Ney” by Fairuz
• “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young

This type of repertoire showcases the versatility of both harp and flute. Together, the instruments can move effortlessly between classical elegance, folk-inspired textures, contemporary pop, cinematic music, and culturally diverse repertoire while still maintaining a cohesive and refined sound appropriate for luxury weddings and upscale events.

Live Wedding Music for Northwest Arkansas Weddings

Northwest Arkansas has become an increasingly sought-after destination for weddings because of its combination of scenic venues, vineyards, mountain landscapes, and distinctive architectural spaces like the chapel at Sassafras Springs Vineyard. Live acoustic music is especially effective in these environments, where the natural resonance of harp and flute can fully enhance the atmosphere of the ceremony.

In addition to harp and flute duet performances, I also offer solo harp, harp and violin ensembles, two-harp duets, harp with string quartet, and larger ensembles for luxury weddings, rehearsal dinners, cocktail hours, and multi-day wedding celebrations throughout Northwest Arkansas and beyond.
