I am so excited for my summer full of weddings! June started off beautifully with the wedding of Chloe and Jarett at Lucile’s Old Market in downtown Omaha. Their ceremony was held in the outdoor courtyard, with the reception inside the historic building.
Their color palette of blushes, mauves, greens, and golds was the perfect nod to the season and was reflected in the building’s facade and the gardens.
They chose to have one song for both family seating and the wedding party processional – “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young. If you have a small wedding party (or a particularly short aisle), it can get a bit choppy-sounding to change the music frequently. Having both of these groups walk down the aisle to one piece of music – and then changing for the grand entrance – is a great way to have more musical continuity for the processional.
Chloe chose “Merry-Go-Round of Life” from the Studio Ghibli film Howl’s Moving Castle for her entrance. Not traditional wedding music, but it’s your wedding – it doesn’t have to be! The Enya song “Aniron” was the background music for the handfasting.
To conclude the ceremony, they chose “Great Fairy Fountain” from Legend of Zelda. This piece lends itself so well to the harp! Full of big chords and arpeggios, it’s a great choice for the recessional and gets everyone off to the party!
I play for weddings and other events in Omaha and throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. You can review more information and contact me at my website – Omaha Wedding Musician – if you are interested in having a harpist for your event!
