Harpist in Chicago – New Year’s Eve Wedding at Herrington Inn

New Year’s Eve is the perfect time for a wedding!  Christmas may be over, but everyone is still in the holiday mood.  And on New Year’s, expect your guests to stay late into the evening to celebrate with you!

This New Year’s Eve ceremony took place at the Herrington Inn & Spa in Geneva, Illinois.  Located right on the Fox River, it’s a lovely venue any time of the year – but especially with their holiday decorations!

As guests gathered, I played a variety of popular music, including “I See Fire” and “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran, “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons, “All of Me” by John Legend, and “Fields of Gold” by Sting.  All contemporary, recognizable songs, but not something you’d necessarily expect to hear on the harp!

New Year's Eve Wedding Music

When the processional was ready to begin, I played “Halo” by Beyonce.  Not at all traditional, but that’s what is wonderful about the flexibility of the harp!  Your wedding music can be anything you want it to be.

The bride came down the aisle to something a bit more traditional – “Canon in D” by Pachelbel.  The recessional was “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles, and I continued to play until the guests had made their way upstairs for the cocktail hour.  The venue staff quickly reset the ceremony room to serve dinner, and the party began!
