One of my favorite things to do is play music people don’t expect to hear on the harp. When it’s music from another culture, even better! I love adapting songs from around the world and performing them on the harp, making each event customized with music that is meaningful for the hosts and guests.
For this wedding reception at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township, they requested a mix of contemporary love songs and Arabic music.
The ladies’ hall was filled with flowers (even hanging from the ceiling), pink and purple lighting, and gold accents. The entrance was flanked with columns, and provided a dramatic backdrop for the photography.
I played as guests arrived and through the couple’s entrance, for which they chose the Mendelssohn “Wedding March.” The modern songs they selected included “Perfect,” “A Thousand Years,” “La Vie en Rose,” and “All of Me.”
The Arabic music for the evening included harp renditions of “El Bint El Shalabiya,” “Nassam Aleina al-Hawa,” and “Enta Omri.”
Your wedding music can be anything you want it to be! Whether you prefer classical pieces, jazz standards, modern love songs, or music to honor your family’s heritage, it will sound lovely on the harp. The harp adds to the visual impact of your decor, too!
