Harpist in Green Bay | Hotel Northland Party

The Hotel Northland is an historic gem of a hotel in downtown Green Bay. I was invited by a local bank to play for their patrons at their holiday party.

Green Bay Harpist

Throughout the evening, guests were able to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and live harp music. The songs I played included traditional Christmas carols and more contemporary popular favorites of the season. There was music everyone would recognize – and a few inspired impromptu sing-alongs!

Engagement Party Music ~ Chicago Harpist

An elegant holiday tea is a wonderful way to celebrate your engagement! This couple gathered with their friends at the bride’s family home in Lake Forest.

Chicago Harpist

The harp was placed just inside the foyer, so it was the first thing guests saw as they entered the home, and the sound carried throughout the adjacent rooms where guests were seated. The music for the afternoon included classical selections and modern love songs. It was the perfect way to begin the wedding festivities, incorporating elegance and glamour!

Pittsburgh Harpist | Phipps Conservatory Event

My holiday “harping” season kicked off with a Great Gatsby-inspired corporate event at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh.

Harpist in Pittsburgh PA

Guests were able to experience the holiday decorations throughout the venue, and were welcomed into the event space with harp music of the era (plus a few contemporary favorites they would recognize!). A little ragtime, some Gershwin, and a bit of early jazz brought us right into the Roaring 20s!

Everything was lit with a light blue hue, and the decor included Art Deco-style lighted centerpieces, tall feathery floral arrangements, and a variety of blue and black linens. I played as guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, with a DJ taking over for dinner and the remainder of the evening.

Bollywood Wedding Harpist

Brittney and Manu had a wedding that celebrated their cultural traditions. On Thanksgiving weekend, their immediate families joined together for their ceremony, and they welcomed a larger group in the evening for their reception. It was a fairytale event, from the moment guests walked in the door!

Fairy Tale Wedding Iowa

Both ceremony and reception were held at the Durant Community Center in Durant, Iowa. It’s a small town a short drive away from both the Quad Cities and Iowa City. They decorated in silver and dark blue, with an arch constructed by the family.

I played prelude music as everyone was getting prepared, then transitioned to “Trumpet Tune” for the family seating, then “Trumpet Voluntary” for the wedding party processional. The groom had his own entrance song – the theme from James Bond! Brittney chose Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus” for her walk down the aisle.

Indian Wedding Music Iowa

During the ceremony, the couple participated in several Sri Lankan wedding traditions. As they did so, I played “Pehla Nasha” from the Bollywood movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Their recessional was the traditional Mendelssohn “Wedding March.” After the ceremony, everyone went outside to see the couple off in a vintage automobile before coming back to the hall for dinner.

Harpist for Thanksgiving Service

As a gift to their church community, a couple hired me to play for the Thanksgiving morning service at Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Springfield. With a November wedding, Thanksgiving often falls on their anniversary, and this is one way they celebrate!

Springfield Harpist

Along with playing for the prelude and with the organist for the hymns, I accompanied the choir on the John Rutter arrangement of the Schulz hymn “We Plow the Fields and Scatter.” Getting the harp up to the balcony was no easy feat, without an elevator and with a winding staircase! I actually moved it up the day before, just in case there were any issues – and to give my arms a chance to recover!

While most of my bookings are for weddings, I am also available to play for concerts, church services, and other events throughout Central Illinois. Visit my website ~ Central Illinois Harpist ~ to discuss the details of the music you are planning!

Jackson Tennessee Harpist ~ Wedding Music in Yuma

Mary-Ashton and Heath hosted their wedding at the Buttrey Wedding and Event Venue in rural Yuma, Tennessee. Located halfway between Huntingdon and Lexington, and an easy drive from Jackson, Memphis, or Nashville, it was a lovely rustic spot for their fall celebration!

Jackson TN Harpist

Their ceremony was outdoors by the lake. I set up the harp on the patio close to the hall, so it would be a quick transition back inside for the reception. With the harp hooked up to the sound system, the music reached the guests no problem!

Tennessee Wedding Harpist

For the family entrance, they chose the Led Zeppelin song “Stairway to Heaven.” The wedding party came down the aisle to “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, followed by the bride to “From This Moment On” by Shania Twain. The recessional was the Coldplay song “Sky Full of Stars.”

Nashville Harpist

Guests returned to the barn for cocktails and dinner, where everything was decorated in hues of terracotta and navy blue. I continued the harp music after the introductions of the wedding party and couple into the hall. During dinner, they opted for more popular selections from the 1980s to the current day. A live band continued the party with dancing into the evening.

Memphis Wedding Music ~ Ceremony at 409 South Main

Another harpist’s wedding! I love when fellow musicians hire me to play for their ceremonies, doubly so when it’s another harpist! Sidney and William were married at 409 South Main Events in Memphis’ South Main Arts District. It’s an industrial-style venue with lots of exposed brick, and is on the same block as the Blues Hall of Fame Museum.

Memphis Wedding Ceremony Music

Guests took the elevator to the upper floor, where the ceremony space was partitioned off from the reception area with sheer white curtains. You could see the outline of the harp with the natural light coming in from the street-facing windows. Harp music for the prelude included classical pieces and familiar love songs of all eras.

As the family members were seated to begin the service, I played “Nightingale” by the harpist Deborah Henson-Conant. The wedding party and bride all entered to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.”

For the recessional at the conclusion of the ceremony, they switched up the vibe, and went with “This Will Be an Everlasting Love” by Natalie Cole. From traditional wedding classics to jazz standards to R&B, the harp can cover all of your favorite musical styles!

Halloween Wedding ~ Kansas City Harpist

This was my second year in a row playing for a wedding on Halloween! Each couple embraced the holiday in their own way, with this wedding at the Hotel Kansas City going for a witch-y but classy vibe. The dark florals and the woodwork in the hotel’s Tudor Ballroom set the stage for their ceremony, with the stained glass murals as their backdrop.

Halloween Wedding Music Kansas City

As guests arrived, I played some familiar classics, finishing with the Scottish folk song “Loch Lomond” and “Prelude” from Final Fantasy VII. The processional for the wedding party was “Ashokan Farewell” from the Ken Burns documentary The Civil War.

Wedding Harpist Kansas City

Desiree came down the aisle to “The Call” by the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Throughout the ceremony, they requested two pieces to be played lightly in the background – “Erev shel shoshanim” and “Dodon’s Sleep.”

Harp Kansas City

For their recessional, they chose the main theme of Game of Thrones (“Song of Fire and Ice”). Wedding music doesn’t have to fit a certain mold – it should be music that is meaningful to the couple! Following the ceremony, I moved the harp up to the rooftop where cocktail hour was taking place.

Kansas City Wedding Harpist

With beautiful views over downtown Kansas City, guests could enjoy the fire pits, appetizers, drinks, and a harp music serenade! The music they chose for this time had a new age feel with some popular selections included, and some of the songs were “Lothlorien” by Enya, the Welsh folk song “By Kell’s Waters,” “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica, and “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Harpist in Racine

While many of the events I play for are weddings, harp music can be the perfect finishing touch for any celebration! Valerie was finished (or at least on a pause!) renovating her new home on the lakefront in Racine, Wisconsin, and invited family and friends to see.

Kenosha Harpist

Along with drinks and appetizers, her guests were treated to a beautiful view and beautiful music. Teal and gold balloons framed the harp, and her cat was THE BEST!

Harp Cat in Racine WI

She requested classical harp music that didn’t make it feel like a wedding. I loved that description! The music we went with included some harp compositions that may not be recognized but are idiomatic to the instrument, as well as some familiar classics (but definitely not “Canon in D“!).

Milwaukee Harpist

I love working with people who love harp music! We can customize music for any event, making it set exactly the mood you have in mind. From familiar to obscure classics, current Top 40, jazz standards, Bollywood hits, and Celtic dance tunes – I can play it all!

Chicago Harp & Violin Music

Skokie Valley Baptist Church was celebrating its 70th anniversary, and marked the milestone with a service and dinner. Having harp and violin duets during the meal was a surprise for the congregation!

Reception Music Chicago Harpist and Violinist

Following a hymn sing, the congregation entered the church hall, which had been transformed into a beautiful dining space. They requested a variety of classical pieces and traditional hymns, and our playlist included “Ode to Joy,” “Amazing Grace,” “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “Jesus Paid it All,” and “Faith of Our Fathers.”
