I was pleased to spend the evening entertaining guests of a local bank at their “Run for the Roses” dinner! They gathered at The Club at Old Hawthorne outside Columbia, Missouri, where they enjoyed dinner, live music, and desserts.
Prizes were awarded for attendees who correctly guessed win, place, and show for historic Kentucky Derby races they watched, and for the best hats!

Julie and Paul lucked out with the weather on their wedding day! It was overcast and kept threatening to rain, but fortunately it held off until after their outdoor ceremony. They held both the ceremony and reception at Wisconsin’s Blue Mound State Park, halfway between Madison and Dodgeville, and close to Little Norway and Cave of the Mounds.
The ceremony was held in the amphitheatre, with guests arriving via a short path through the woods and finding seats on wooden benches. The prelude was classical music, including the Italian composition “Andiam, mio tesoro.”
The processionals were both Debussy pieces – “Reverie” for the wedding party and “First Arabesque” for the bride, who wore a stunning emerald green gown!
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the couple opted for “Great Day” as the recessional and Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” for guest dismissal. They made their way to the reception at the adjacent pavilion, and celebrated the rest of the evening!
I play for weddings and events throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota, and would love to discuss the music for your ceremony and reception! Contact me at {Madison WI Wedding Music} to start making plans!
When a fellow harpist needed to head out of the country for a few months, I was delighted to be able to step in and cover some of her gigs! One of those was for an evening at the Genesis Heart Institute in Davenport, Iowa.
Attendees of the Cardiovascular Innovations and Practice Guidelines conference listened to speakers, and in between sessions, were treated to an hors d’oeuvre buffet and live harp music.
The event planner was delighted that I could play her favorite Arabic songs, even without her requesting them in advance. My repertoire encompasses thousands of pieces, and they are all at my fingertips (and in my iPad!). Yes, I am happy to play “Stump the Band” with your guests!

One of my favorite things to do is play music people don’t expect to hear on the harp. When it’s music from another culture, even better! I love adapting songs from around the world and performing them on the harp, making each event customized with music that is meaningful for the hosts and guests.
For this wedding reception at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township, they requested a mix of contemporary love songs and Arabic music.
The ladies’ hall was filled with flowers (even hanging from the ceiling), pink and purple lighting, and gold accents. The entrance was flanked with columns, and provided a dramatic backdrop for the photography.

Fellows Riverside Gardens offers many beautiful wedding locations! Laura and John had their ceremony at the Kidston Pavilion and the reception in the Daniel L. Rossi Auditorium. It’s convenient for your guests to have all of the wedding festivities in one location, and even better when you’re surrounded by the beauty of the gardens, inside and out!
The wedding party, which included the groom’s grandchildren as the ring bearer and flower girls, came down the aisle to “Canon in D” by Pachelbel. Laura chose the traditional “Bridal Chorus” for her own processional music.
For the unity ceremony, they went with something more contemporary – “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King. The recessional, “Wedding March” by Mendelssohn, provided a joyful backdrop for the walk to the reception hall.
Harp music continued for the cocktail hour inside, featuring familiar classical pieces and popular music from the 1970s through the present day. A live band provided the music for the remainder of the evening.

The rooftop of the Joliet Area Historical Museum was the venue for Karen and Debbie’s wedding ceremony. Friends and family filled the space, decorated in shades of coral and ivory, on a warm summer afternoon.
For the prelude, they chose “Valentine” by Jim Brickman and “A Thousand Years” from Twilight. I filled in with other similar pieces until everyone was lined up for the processional. The parents, siblings, flower girl, and ring bearer came down the aisle to “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars.
The brides entered to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.” For the unity candle and sign of the peace, I played “Stand by Me.” For the recessional, they chose “Sugar Sugar,” for which I created a custom harp arrangement just for them! They wanted it to start right at the chorus, skipping over the introduction. With live music, that’s easy to do! You aren’t limited to what’s recorded, and instead can adjust speed, volume, or make cuts and additions, either planned in advance or in the moment!

Eleanor and Michael chose to celebrate their wedding in their own beautiful backyard in the Michiana Shores area of Michigan City, Indiana. Their ceremony and cocktail hour were outdoors in the garden, and they had their screened patio set up for dinner.
I played as guests arrived and enjoyed pre-ceremony cocktails. The couple requested Renaissance and Classical music, Irish folk songs, and video game themes to be played in the background. The wedding party was just the ring bearer and flower girls, followed by the bride. They all entered to Debussy’s “First Arabesque.”
As the ceremony concluded, the recessional was another Debussy piece – this time, his “Second Arabesque”! Cocktails continued, and the special requests for this time included “Road to Lisdoonvarna,” “Hawaiian Wedding Song,” Nino Rota’s Godfather Theme, and “Moonlight in Vermont.”
They were going for a classy, garden party vibe, and the harp was the perfect way to accomplish that! Music of the harp can be ethereal or jazzy, to match the mood you’d like to create. And it can change as the event progresses!

A little rain couldn’t put a damper on Brenda and Marc’s wedding day! They were married at their residence in Interlochen, Michigan, on the shores of Cedar Hedge Lake. Their plan was for a ceremony on the lawn. Northern Michigan weather is unpredictable, but they were prepared with a tent for the reception that could do double duty to shelter the ceremony.
Once it became clear that the rain wouldn’t let up by the starting time, friends and family pitched in to relocate the ceremony arch and decor under the tent, so everything could proceed. I had set up the harp under the tent already, so I could get the harp tuned while we waited out the radar, and so that the music could continue, no matter what!
As guests took their seats, I played “A Thousand Years” from Twilight, “Fields of Gold” by Sting, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles, and other popular/contemporary songs. “Canon in D” by Pachelbel was the processional music for the wedding party and the bride, reserving the faster, more majestic section for the bridal entrance.
The ceremony concluded, and the recessional music was the traditional Mendelssohn “Wedding March.” I continued to play as the tent was reset for dinner.

Michaela and Kevin had not only harp, but a duet of harp and violin for their Door County wedding ceremony! They had a beautiful summer day for the outdoor event at Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor, with their hilltop ceremony site overlooking Green Bay.
We played classical harp and violin duet music as the guests were seated. For the entrance of the family members, they chose “Fields of Gold” by Sting. The wedding party processional was Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” Classical instruments can play popular music, too!
Michaela had the DJ play for her own walk down the aisle, then back to live music for the unity sand ceremony. For that moment, they opted for “Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay. I especially love this song with the harp and violin duet! Their recessional was the jazz standard “At Last.”
We continued the postlude music as guests made their way inside for the cocktail hour. Either as a solo harpist or in a chamber ensemble with other musicians, I love personalizing a couple’s wedding music with them! It can be classical, contemporary, or a mix of everything. I play in Door County and throughout Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Contact me via my website ~ Door County Wedding Music ~ to receive a quote for your event!
After postponing for a year, Veronica and Brandon were finally able to have the wedding of their dreams! The ceremony and reception both took place at Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario. I love ceremony sites like this one that are open to the gardens, but with overhead cover. It means your outdoor wedding can continue as planned, no matter the weather!
They chose music from Legend of Zelda (Sacred Grove, Zelda’s Lullaby, Great Fairy Fountain), Final Fantasy, and Halo for the prelude as guests were arriving at the venue.
For the wedding party and bridal processional, they chose Sleeping at Last’s song “Turning Page” from Twilight: Breaking Dawn, sung by a vocalist with harp accompaniment.
During the ceremony, we performed the Cyndi Lauper song “True Colors” for the signing of the register and rope braiding ritual. The recessional was “Counting Stars” by One Republic. I continued with more up-tempo popular songs as guests exited the ceremony space and made their way to the cocktail hour.
